Phoenix Suns Beat Charlotte Bobcats 111-108

Matt Barnes scored 18 points and hit the go- ahead bank shot with 31 seconds left in the second overtime to propel Phoenix to a 111-108 win over the snake-bitten Charlotte Bobcats in preseason play. Shaquille O'Neal had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Suns, who also received 14 points from Robert Hite and 12 apiece from Raja Bell and Grant Hill.

D.J. Augustin had 19 points and eight rebounds, but went just 4-of-20 from the field for the Bobcats, who remained winless in the preseason under new coach Larry Brown. Jason Richardson had 15 points and Andre Brown 14 for the Bobcats, who have dropped all six of their preseason games.

Charlotte blew a 94-91 lead in the final minute of regulation. Louis Amundson's jam and one free throw from Goran Dragic forced the first overtime.

The Bobcats scored the first six points of the first extra session, but Hite's three-pointer tied the game. Then, after Augustin's jumper gave the Bobcats a 102-100 edge with 45 seconds left, Amundson's jam tied the game, and Augustin's three-ball missed to move the game to a second OT.

Gerald Wallace's layup extended Charlotte to a 108-105 lead with 2:44 left, but Charlotte then went cold from the field and had costly mistakes, not indicative a Brown-coached team. Four turnovers and three missed shots opened the door for Phoenix.

Hite's jumper pulled Phoenix within a point, and Barnes gave the home team the lead. After Augustin missed a shot, Barnes made a layup in the waning seconds. Raymond Felton then stepped out of bounds for a turnover, sealing Charlotte's fate.
