Paul Maurice 1st to Interview with Islanders
Former Toronto Maple Leafs coach Paul Maurice will be the first to interview for the New York Islanders coaching job and will meet with GM Garth Snow today, Newsday reports.
Maurice is among seven confirmed candidates to succeed Ted Nolan. Former Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella and his assistant when he coached the Lightning, Mike Sullivan, join former Atlanta coach Bob Hartley and Providence Bruins coach Scott Gordon on the list of candidates. Former Colorado coach Joel Quenneville and Islanders assistant Gerard Gallant round out the field, according to the newspaper.
Snow told Newsday the interview process could last two or three weeks. He said, "I'm going to interview everybody. I'd be crazy not to."
