PSG Beat Marseille 4-2
Guillaume Hoarau scored twice, including the last of PSG's three goals in the second half, as the Paris club rallied for a huge 4-2 win over Marseille on Sunday in France's Ligue 1. PSG, which barely avoided relegation last season, jumped to sixth in the league after 10 matches. Marseille had a chance to overtake Lyon for the top spot, but remained two points back in second.
Lyon tied Auxerre 0-0 on Saturday - extending its winless streak in the league to three games - to open the door for Marseille to take over the top spot.
Hoarau staked PSG to an early lead at Stade Velodrome, but Marseille erased the deficit by halftime on goals from Mamadou Niang and Mathieu Valbuena. Pegguy Luyindula scored in the 53rd minute to pull PSG back level, then Jerome Rothen put his side in front in the 77th. Hoarau added his second goal in the 82nd to cap the memorable second half, and give PSG its first win at arch-rival Marseille in five years.
Also Sunday, Daniel Moreira and Franck Djadjede scored as Grenoble defeated St. Etienne 2-0, and Marc-Antoine Fortune scored in the 74th as Nancy tied Sochaux 1-1.
