Nuggets Beat Jazz 120-119
Linas Kleiza had 19 points and hit a pair of clutch free throws to seal the game in overtime as Denver edged Utah, 120-119, in preseason action from the Pepsi Center.
J.R. Smith scored 19 as well for the Nuggets, who shot 48.1 percent from the field and hit 41-of-57 free throws. Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin each chipped in with 16 points.
Deron Williams had a game-high 22 points and handed out eight assists while C.J. Miles dropped 13 with seven helpers. Kyle Korver also netted 13 points for the Jazz, who turned the ball over 26 times.
Miles sent the game to overtime by hitting a pair of free throws with eight seconds to play in regulation and Smith missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer that would have won it for Denver.
Kosta Koufos' layup with 18 seconds left in OT pulled Utah within two, 118-116, but Kleiza drained two free throws with three seconds left to make it a four-point game. Koufos drilled a three at the buzzer to account for the final score.
