Miami Heat Beat Nets 106-103

Dwyane Wade was too much for the Nets down the stretch, dropping 8 of his game-high 43 points in the final 2 minutes as the Miami Heat downed New Jersey, 106-103.

Wade sank 16-of-18 from the foul line, while reserves Daequan Cook and Michael Beasley chipped in 17 and 11 points, respectively, for the Heat, who were coming off an impressive victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

"It was pretty incredible what Wade did in the fourth quarter," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "I was encouraged. Dwyane was spectacular, and he really closed the game out for us. And we didn't just rely on him; this was really encouraging for our group."

Brook Lopez posted a solid 22-point, 13-rebound effort, while Devin Harris and Vince Carter added 21 points apiece for the Nets, who have lost 5 of seven. Harris also handed out 9 assists in defeat.

"Obviously, we came out played hard with lot of effort and energy," Lopez said. "We prefer a different outcome, but we definitely came with it tonight."

A Jarvis Hayes three and a Carter fadeaway put the Nets ahead, 86-85, with 7 1/2 minutes remaining in the game. It stayed close the rest of the way as 4 straight from the line gave the Nets their last lead, 97-96, with 2:16 left.

Wade then forced the action in the lane, getting a layup and a foul in back-to-back possessions with a Harris turnover sandwiched between. Wade made the 1st and missed the 2nd free throw, but the Heat came away with the long rebound and Wade again was fouled and went 1-for-2 at the line.

Carter missed a shot in the lane on the Nets' next touch and Lopez quickly fouled Wade, who hit another pair from the stripe for a 102-97 lead with 41 ticks remaining.

Harris countered with two from the line, but Udonis Haslem's baseline jumper with 14.7 ticks remaining sealed the win for Miami.

"That's basketball: Sometimes you're gonna struggle, sometimes you're going to be in the zone," Wade said. "You just have to stick with it, and you know it will eventually turn around."

The Nets came away from a fluid 1st quarter with a 29-27 lead before Wade took over in the 2nd. The star guard scored 13 straight Miami points midway through the frame while Jersey scored just 5 points in that span.

A Cook 3-pointer late in the half made it 62-56 in favor of Miami at the break, and the Heat maintained the lead, 80-77, heading into the final 12 minutes.
