Frankfurt Beats Moenchengladbach 2-1

Eintracht Frankfurt gained its third win in four games when it beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-1 on the road Sunday, while Bochum held Borussia Dortmund to a 1-1 draw.

Frankfurt was missing several regular starters because of injuries and fell behind when defender Marco Russ deflected a cross from Marko Marin into his own net after 12 minutes. But three minutes later Martin Fenin tied the game and Michael Fink scored the winning goal seven minutes into the second half.

Moenchengladbach, a Bundesliga powerhouse in the 1970s, slumped to its second defeat in three games under new coach Hans Mayer and remains second from bottom with only two wins in 11 games.

In Dortmund, the home side had to settle for its sixth draw of the season after falling behind to a goal from Thomas Zdebel in the 27th minute. Mohamed Zidan scored shortly before halftime to secure his side a draw that lifted it into sixth place.

Newcomer Hoffenheim routed Karlsruhe 4-1 on Saturday for its fifth straight win to remain one point ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, which beat Wolfsburg 2-0 on Friday. Defending champion Bayern Munich beat Arminia Bielefeld 3-1 to climb to third. Hoffenheim has 25 points, Leverkusen 24 and Bayern 21.
