Male Prep Player of the Year

The Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award was established in 1987 to honor the nation’s best male and female high school players.
A nationwide poll of prep basketball analysts, key members of the media, and college and high school coaches assist the Atlanta
Tipoff Club in selecting the winner.
In 2004, Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy and the NBA Lottery’s #1 draft pick Dwight Howard was awarded the Male Prep Player
of the Year. Naperville Central High School’s Candace Parker, who is only the second high school female ever to dunk a basketball,
won the Female Prep Player of the Year Award.
