Gasol cleared for full-contract drills
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) - Pau Gasol moved one step closer to making his much-needed return to the Memphis Grizzlies.
The team's leading scorer each of the past five seasons, Gasol has been cleared for full-contract drills as he continues his recovery from a broken left foot.
Gasol, who also led the Grizzlies in rebounding last season, has not played this year after suffering the injury playing for his native Spain in the world championships in Japan over the summer.
Memphis has struggled in his absence, losing seven straight games in November and a 100-94 decision at the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday to drop to 5-14. Memphis is tied with Charlotte for the worst winning percentage in the league.
The Grizzlies return to action against the Los Angeles Clippers here on Saturday.
Cleared for light workouts at the start of the month, Gasol began 3-on-3 drills on Thursday.
